The list of bills vetoed by the Governor that are devastating to our community is long. IHSS bills, accessibility bill, environmental bills, tax credits to make our homes safer bills…the Governor does not seem to have a gasp of the obvious.  People with disAbility are in need of an “Up Grade”.  We are not going to get it.

Because of the veto of SB 251 (NOT because it takes away our rights but because of the miniscule business tax credit for barrier removal) the legislature and the rabid assault to take away our rights will escalate.  For the next few weeks there will be a lot of work happening with collaborations and coalitions writing our own legislation and meeting with the few friends we have left as the legislature gears up for the launch of the next session in January.

We are in peril and we need our constituency to pay attention to the messages and respond with letters, faxes and e mails to your legislators and the committees where these bills will be heard.

Anyone can go to www.leginfo.gov to keep up with what is happening with anti Civil Rights bills and our own efforts to counter them.  ACTIVISM NOW!  ACTIVISM FOREVER!!!  That is what gave us our rights and that is what it takes to get them back.  Antipathy is how we got here.

THE TIME IS NOW.  GET UP AND GET MOVING.  WE HAVE BEEN DEVALUED LONG ENOUGH.
